Project Engineer

The Government of Lesotho (GoL) has received funding from the IDA World Bank and the SREP for the Lesotho Renewable Energy and Electricity Access Project (LREEAP) amounting to US$ 52.9 million. The objective of the project is to increase access to electricity in rural and peri-urban areas of Lesotho. The project will accelerate electricity access along two dimensions: (i) grid extension to economic development zones in peri-urban areas, and (ii) the deployment of mini-grids to reach rural and remote communities. The Lesotho Electricity Company (Pty) Ltd has been mandated by the Government of Lesotho to implement the following components under LREEAP namely; Component 1A – Grid Extension to Peri-urban Areas of Lesotho; Component 1B – Grid Extension for Electrification of Rural Villages; and Component 2A – Rehabilitation and Upgrade of LEC mini-grid in Semonkong.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum Bachelor Degree in Electric Engineering;

• At least five (5) years of work experience, preferably in the supervision of electrical networks projects

• Relevant experience or knowledge in the implementation of projects funded by International Financial Institutions

• Proven experience with electrical power systems, transmission line design, construction maintenance, distribution infrastructure design and substation design;

• Knowledge of power equipment commissioning;

• Relevant experience in managing complex teams and/or projects

• Proven technical accreditation to undertake works or supervision in electrical environment (e.g. high voltage accreditation, etc.);

• Must have a drivers’ license with at least 5 years driving experience

• Proven computer skills and use of accounting software;

• Sound knowledge of interpreting schematic drawings

• Excellent reporting skills
