About CHAL
The Christian Health Association of Lesotho (CHAL) is a voluntary organization of six member churches:
- Roman Catholic Church (RCC)
- Lesotho Evangelical Church in Southern Africa (LECSA)
- Church of the Bible Covenant (CBC)
- Assemblies of God Lesotho (AGL)
- Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA)
- Anglican Church in Lesotho (ACL)
CHAL was registered in 1974 under the Societies Act. Its facilities include 8 hospitals, 4 Nurses Training Institutes, and 71 Health Centres, providing approximately 40% of healthcare services in Lesotho. CHAL collaborates with various partners to implement donor-funded projects promoting health for all Basotho.
CHAL has been awarded a grant by the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN) to improve access to quality pharmaceutical services in church health facilities, focusing on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Infection Prevention & Control (IPC).
Position: Project Coordinator
Reporting to: Deputy Executive Director and Head of Programs
Key Responsibilities and Functions
- Comply with national, regional, and international pharmaceutical laws
- Support CHAL pharmacy personnel in delivering pharmaceutical services
- Liaise with the Ministry of Health, CHAL facilities, and stakeholders to ensure project activities meet budget, timeframe, and quality standards
- Guard against malpractice and ensure compliance with SOPs
- Ensure accurate record keeping in pharmacy departments
- Provide training on drug handling, AMS committee establishment, and prescription audits
- Offer mentorship and on-site support to pharmacy staff
- Conduct supportive supervision visits
- Advise on medicine selection
- Maintain good inventory practices
- Implement pharmacovigilance strategies
- Ensure adherence to standard treatment guidelines
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
Qualifications
- B.A. Degree in Pharmacy
- Registered with the Lesotho Medical Dental and Pharmacy Council
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a pharmacist
- Experience in AMR stewardship activities
