Advertisement for Project Management Unit Positions
The Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition (MAFSN), will be implementing a project on Building Climate Smart Resilient Livelihoods and Food Systems.
This five-year project will be implemented in four sub-catchments: Hlotse, Maletsunyane, Seaka, and Stanteng, and is financed by the Government of Lesotho, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
The proposed project aims to enhance climate resilience of landscapes and communities for food and nutrition security through sustainable water management.
The MAFSN has established key positions for the Project Coordination Unit and invites applications from suitably qualified professionals for the following positions:
Position: Project Coordinator
Reports to: Principal Secretary (MAFSN)
Duty Station: Maseru, Lesotho, with intensive travel to 4 districts
Job Summary:
The Project Coordinator (PC) will provide strategic leadership, guidance, and support on project reporting, finances, and budgeting. The PC will coordinate project activities and ensure timely preparation and submission of required documents such as AWPBs, budgets, reports, audit reports, and withdrawal applications.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Delivery:
- Oversee preparation of Annual Work Plan and Budget (AWPB), Procurement Plans, and supervise day-to-day project implementation.
- Develop systems and strategies to enhance project performance.
- Promote adherence to PIM guidance and GEF policies.
- Identify challenges and develop solutions, proactively manage project risks.
- Ensure timely data capture and robust monitoring/reporting.
- Direct capacity building and support to the PCU.
Budget Management:
- Mobilize funds according to project requirements.
- Ensure effective utilization of funds.
- Recommend budget reviews when necessary to align with changing project needs.
Coordination and Supervision:
- Supervise and deploy all PCU staff.
- Integrate PCU operations with the Ministry and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as Secretariat to the PSC.
- Represent the project at external stakeholder meetings.
- Monitor grievance redress and coordinate project partnerships.
- Support GEF supervision missions, mid-term reviews, and evaluations.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Agribusiness, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Management, or Economics.
Experience:
- At least 10 years of professional experience in Agribusiness, agriculture, or natural resources projects.
- 5 years’ experience in project management, financial administration, or budgeting (with team leadership preferred).
Mode and Duration of Contract:
All positions are offered on a three-year contract, renewable based on satisfactory performance.
