One to One Africa is the South African-registered office of a United Kingdom-based charity that works with vulnerable and traumatised children, helping to transform the lives of those affected by disease, trauma and disability. The charity has been working in Africa for more than 15 years, in partnership with local organisations. It has focused largely on issues surrounding HIV/AIDS and have facilitated significant improvements in access to treatment and quality of care throughout southern Africa.

One to One Africa seeks to appoint a Project Coordinator to be based in Cape Town.

The purpose of this position is to find a person suitable for the Bright Start Early Childhood Development Project. Bright Start is an early childhood development project that trains parents and caregivers of children aged 2 – 5 years on brain stimulation and cognitive development activities using educational toys. The project is currently being implemented in Crossroads, Cape Town, with plans for expansion. The Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all components of the project and will report to the Senior Programme Manager.

Employment Type: Part-time position working 2-3 days a week on a 6 months contract

Start Date: April 2020.

Responsibilities:
Recruit new caregivers to the programme
Maintain and update caregiver database
Manage facilitators as the direct line manager
Oversee the facilitation of caregiver sessions
Procurement of project material i.e. toys, stationary, refreshments etc
Manage petty cash including requests and reconciliations
Manage the disbursement of transport allowances
Support the collection of pre and post-test data – interviews & surveys and oversee collection of weekly assessment data
Prepare monthly project reports
Train new facilitators on the Bright Start intervention
Undertake any other project related responsibilities
Requirements:
Post-matric qualification, preferably in Social Work, Early Childhood Development or similar field.
Social Work qualification will be an advantage
Experience in project administration
Experience in facilitating workshops and trainings
Must be fluent in isiXhosa
Display strong leadership qualities and have interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and be self-motivated;
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, participants and external partners
Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard caregivers and children’s health information
Computer literacy skills – knowledge of MS Word, Excel
Time management skills
