Emerging from a collective meeting of churches, trade unions, civic groups, progressive scientists and health organisations around concerns of a rational and equitable Covid-19 vaccine roll out, The People’s Vaccine Campaign was established in January 2021 to build a people’s movement to fight for equitable access, equity and vaccine justice.Currently, the PVC looks to undertake a national rollout of its Popular Education Programme for Vaccine Literacy across various sectors, in collaboration with numerous partners and its fiscal host, Seriti Institute. This programme involves the hosting of Train theTrain (TTT) workshops to bolster facilitator capacity, followed by community workshops for vaccine literacy, and supported by a related media & communications campaign. To assist the rollout of its Popular Education Programme.

The People’s Vaccine Campaign seeks to appoint a Project Coordinator to be based in Johannesburg or Cape Town.

This person will oversee and manage the implementation of its Popular Education Role Out, including management of several Train the Trainer and grassroots workshops over the country and wider project oversight.

 Duration: This is a part time position (30 hour week – 6 months)

A salary package commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinate and Implement plans and logistics together with PVC, sector leaders and Seriti Institute as decided by the PVC Popular Education Task team
Assist in developing detailed budget for TTT workshops
Ensure accountability – both organizational and financial accountability as required by PVC and Seriti Institute
Work closely with Seriti Institute to ensure their reporting and monitoring requirements are met (financial and narrative)
Work closely with Seriti Institute on a media & communications campaign
Participate in Task Team meetings and assist with providing direction for programmes implementation & evaluation
Identify problems within programmes and plans and suggest corrective action
Liaise, meet and support the PVC Steering Committee when required.
Produce donor reports as and when required.
Required Education & Experience:
At least a Masters postgraduate qualification in Project Management, Education, Media, Communications, or related studies. (*Other job-related education, experience or training can be considered in relation to this)
2-3 years experience with project management, community/labour organizing and popular education projects will be an advantage.
Strong planning, organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Decisiveness, initiative, problem solving and critical thinking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience and knowledge of financial reporting, budgets, bookkeeping, etc
Experience in developing educational material and facilitating training
Strong people management, development and interpersonal skill
Good understanding of the political and social environment.
Good understanding and appreciation of the need for popular education and media in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and related vaccination programmes.
Communication, Presentation & Marketing Skills.
