Mohale FM, Lesotho’s first ever truly independent News and current affairs radio station with no connections to any sectoral interests or political parties, is due for launch on or before 01 June 2022. The station would thus wish to recruit for the following key vacancies:
PROGRAMMING DIRECTOR
- The programming Director shall oversee the conception and selection of all the station’s content and in the process shape the stations’ demographic, identity and core values
- He/She shall be responsible for the stations entire programming schedule in line with the stations talk show (news and current affairs)
- Oversee an extensive research process into station’s audiences and ensure that all programming meets the co-audiences’ wants and expectations
- Check completed program logs for accuracy and conformance with Lesotho Communications Authority LCA) rules and regulations and resolve program log inaccuracies
- Confer with directors and production staff to discuss issues such as production and casting problems, budgets. policies and news coverage
- Coordinate activities between departments, such as news and programming
- Cue announcers and guests
- Develop promotions for current programs and specials
- Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in broadcast news, sports, or programming
- Establish work schedules and assign work to staff members
- Evaluate new and existing programming for suitability to assess the need for changes, using information such as audience survey and feedback
- Monitor and review programming in order to ensure that schedules are met, guidelines are adhered to, and performances are of adequate quality
- Monitor network transmissions for advisories concerning daily program schedules program content, special feeds, and/or program changes
- Perform personnel duties such as hiring staff and evaluating work performance

A minimum of 5 years experience and relevant education in media, communications or broadcasting (preferably at degree level) is required for the Station Manager’s post while 3 years experience and the relevant Diploma or Degree in media or related subjects will suffice for the other posts.
