JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of Head of Programmes, the Programmes Producer is responsible for production of programmes He/she assigns Programme Producers to gather materials for and to cover live events.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Produces Radio programmes for transmission
  • Gives assignments of coverage and events to producers
  • Checks and takes action as necessitated by the daily events in the logbook.
  • Allocates airtime to feeder Ministries.
  • Trains new recruits, conducts and coordinates refresher courses.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Degree in Journalism/ Mass communications with 5 years’ experience in the field of Media.

Supervision Received

Minimum supervision is required. The incumbent has to provide written or oral reports on work progress to supervisor or management team as often as may be required.

Dexterity

The incumbent should have no physical disability

CONTACTS

The incumbent may require contacting members of his division daily. He may require contacting members of other ATS divisions and members of other external organizations including government departments as often as required.

EFFORT

Mental effort
The incumbent is expected to analyze research data or information. He/She will undertake cost benefit analyses of manufacturing processes and engineering designs, Moreover, the incumbent will engage in the drafting and interpretation of technical and manufacturing drawings as we as measurements.

Physical Effort
The incumbent will be involved in carrying equipment and materials as using manufacturing workshop equipment to fabricate prototypes on a regular basis. Technology needs assessment and field-testing of photo types may require him/her to walk considerable distances as often as required particularly in the rural area.
Emotional Effort

He/She should be mentally stable and patient to tackle any disturbing situation whether it is conflict amongst R&D team members or difficulty in meeting tight work schedules.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Unfavorable Conditions
The incumbent may be required to work in the manufacturing workshop where there is noise, dust and fumes on a regular basis; He/She may work under conditions of limited resources particularly while carrying out fieldwork in rural areas.

Hazards

Accidents like cuts and burns may occur while using manufacturing workshop equipment, Gas poisoning or explosions may occur in the event of gas leakage.
