ABOUT GRASSROOT SOCCER

Grassroot Soccer (GRS) South Africa is an innovative adolescent health organisation that educates, inspires and mobilizes at-risk young people to overcome their greatest health challenges and live healthier, more productive lives. GRS uses the power of soccer to connect young people with the mentors, information and health services they need to thrive, and empowers adolescents to make educated choices about pressing health challenges such as HIV and AIDS, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and gender-based violence. GRS’s evidence-based programmes, led by trained local Coaches, incorporate soccer into dynamic lessons about health and wellness that engage young people and breaks down cultural barriers. 

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Programme Support Officer is responsible for the support of all programme delivery required for the Community-Based Violence Prevention and Linkages project at Grassroot Soccer South Africa. S/He is required to support the development and implementation of an activity-based work plan which includes recruitment of schools, local partners and stakeholders; recruitment, training and management of facilitators; ensuring programming spending is aligned to budgets and contributing to the writing of reports for the donor. S/He will be responsible for ensuring that all data necessary for monitoring and evaluation is correctly and timeously gathered from all implementation areas.    

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Activity based work plan development, implementation, coordination, management and reporting
Coordinate the implementation of relevant annual programme work plan/s
Implement programme activities in line with this work plan
Plan quarterly targets and how they will be reached
Ensure that facilitators received payments on time by liaising with relevant departments
Budgeting & Financial tracking
Provide input into budgeting process conducted by the SM
Use the budget and financial mechanisms to track and report programme spending related to the grant
Work closely with applicable support staff in Finance, Administration, HR & M&E departments as well as the PM to coordinate all activities related to programme delivery
Establish and maintain relationships with Schools, local partners and stakeholders.
Provide input in the recruitment of participants and other related partners for delivery of work plan
Establish and maintain all relevant stakeholder relationships
People Management
Support the development of assigned programme staff
Ensure technical assistance is offered and provided for all programme staff
Support in the training of facilitators and other support staff as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Key Professional Experience
Relevant University Degree/Post-Graduate or equivalent is advantageous.
Minimum 3 years of community development programme coordination or management experience.
OVC/AGYW programmes experience and PEPFAR/USAID procedural knowledge
PC Literacy with strong knowledge and background of MS Office Suite and strong research skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to deal with people at all levels
Good communication skills
Should demonstrate ability to run with a variety of tasks simultaneously (multi-tasking) and the ability to work well under pressure.
