Our Knowledge Translation Unit is currently recruiting an experienced Programme Researcher, for a six (6) month fixed-term contract, based in Cape Town with travel to both the Eastern Cape and Free State Provinces to support a non-communicable diseases (NCD) training programme pilot.
Minimum Requirements:
Higher Degree in a relevant area e.g. health, evidence-based health care, research methods
At least 2 years’ experience in health care research, with experience in Community Health Worker (CHW) programmes an advantage
Expertise in qualitative methodology, including interview methods
Knowledge of process evaluation methodology
Computer literacy (proficiency in MS office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook as well as communications via Teams and Zoom).
The ability to understand and apply new software quickly
Excellent communication skills in English language (verbal and written)
Demonstrable skills in independent working, using own initiative and managing workload to solve problems and meet deadlines
Demonstrable ability to work sensitively and confidentially within health care settings and with health care workers
Able to work as part of a team and liaise with different academic partners and health care organisations; with a willingness to take direction
Willing to work in a community setting
Valid driver’s license and own car
Availability to travel regularly

Vision fit: To improve the quality of primary healthcare for underserved communities through pragmatic research, evidence-based implementation, evaluation, and engagement of health systems, their planners, providers and patients.

Provincial, district and facility level stakeholder engagement and liaison to evaluate the NCD pilot training
Design data collection instruments i.e. Informed consent forms, questionnaires, interview guides
Conduct interviews, focus groups and observations according to data collection plans and timeframes
Transcribe, code data and participate in analysis according to research methodology.
Write up reports of engagement process, data collection and findings.
Manage data and track data during the course of the pilot.
Frequent travel to both the Free Sate (Mangaung) and Eastern Cape (District TBC) as well as other national travel.
Remuneration will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
