We have an outstanding opportunity for a Programme Officer in the Connectivity Agenda Section in our Trade, Oceans and Natural Resources Directorate.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, processing and leveraging the stock of knowledge and learning created by the work area to ensure that evidence and effectiveness is at the core of the interventions of the Section and supporting the delivery of intergovernmental meetings such as the Commonwealth Trade Ministers Meeting and Connectivity Cluster Meetings.

Other responsibilities entailed in this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting Advisers with the development of toolkits, manuals, guidelines and other policy tools for member countries, in electronic and hardcopy formats;
  • Contributing to the preparation of work plans and budgets, and monitoring the Section’s budget/programme performance in the context of results-based management;
  • Coordinating activities delivered by the Section from a logistical standpoint by applying strategic planning and through the systematic coordination of project activities;
  • Leading the development of an impact and learning strategy for the Connectivity Agenda that improves the effectiveness of activity design and impact;
  • Writing high quality research briefs, presentations, and papers that effectively communicate results and policy recommendations for a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

To be considered you must have an undergraduate degree in international studies, economics or a related social science discipline, as well as a minimum of five years’ experience working in international development where you will have developed and managed monitoring and learning systems, conducted research and overseen grant management and international meetings. Candidates who have obtained a post-graduate qualification in international studies, economics or a related social science discipline, or have experience working on donor-funded programmes supporting small, vulnerable or least developed countries will have an added advantage.
