Anglo American South Africa Education Project: Programme Manager

Location: Parktown, Johannesburg

JET Education Services (JET), a non-profit organisation (NPO) that works in education development, seeks to appoint a dynamic and accomplished high level strategic programme manager for the Anglo American South Africa (AASA) Education Programme.

The senior programme manager (PM) leads the implementation and functional strategy of the existing programme, currently in its third year. The successful candidate will manage the programme within three provinces, namely Limpopo, Mpumalanga and the Northern Cape. The PM is also responsible for overall execution and implementation, deliverables, funder (business unit) liaison and reporting, financial budgets and tracking of expenditure, governance compliance and risk.

The PM also contributes to the shaping of the external image of the partner organisations (JET and AASA), and strengthening of the cooperation and partnerships between partners, business, government and civil society organisations. The PM is responsible for the programme staff at provincial levels, and works closely with the technical teams to ensure optimal implementation and delivery.

This is a contract position from 1 October 2021 up to 31st December 2023, based at the head office in Johannesburg.

The appointed project manager must have the following qualifications and skills:
At least a Master’s degree in education, development or related field
Knowledge and experience in the education and/or development sectors
Proven track record of managing and supporting large scale complex interventions and extensive high level project management experience at a minimum of ten (10) years
A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in senior project management, including managing high level budgets and the performance of project staff
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in monitoring and for outcomes management/results based management; and a good grasp of data management
Must have excellent communication and reporting skills (narrative and financial reporting)
Highly motivated to make a difference in the education sector
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
High-level planning and organizational skills
Ability to establish and maintain relationships with project partners, clients and stakeholders at all levels
Computer literacy (MS Office package; Google suite)
A valid and unendorsed driver’s licence
The programme manager will work closely with the JET executive and senior management teams. The successful candidate will be required to travel to the provinces on a regular basis, meet with business units and stakeholders onsite, and participate in workshops and events. The PM will also have project staff at provincial level and work closely with a diverse set of service providers.

The total cost to company (TCTC) package is between R985 800 – R1 005 900per annum.

Contract timeframe: 1 October 2021 – 31 December 2023.
