The Tshwane Leadership Foundation (TLF) works with churches and communities for urban transformation with specific focus on social inclusion – a process that integrates socially vulnerable people creatively, and prevents displacement as much as possible.

The Tshwane Leadership Foundation seeks to appoint a Programme Coordinator for the Akanani Programme, based in Pretoria.

JOB SUMMARY The project focuses on support and empowerment of vulnerable and/or marginalized men and boys in the inner city of Pretoria. The Programme coordinator is responsible to maintain and develop holistic programmes that will lead to better quality of life, reintegration, as well as societal change and eradication of street homelessness. The Coordinator leads and develops the Akanani team, raises and manages programme funds, and participates in the leadership team of Tshwane Leadership Foundation. The Coordinator reaches out to government, business, churches, community and other non-profit organizations to develop a cohesive, collaborative and coordinated system of care and advocacy, to address the issue fully and to create vibrant and healthy communities that flourish in God’s presence.

Starting date: Immediately.

Salary: R18,000 per month cost to company

Responsibilities:

Effective implementation of the business plan.
Demonstrating the development of a ministry vision that is contextually appropriate and responsive.
Staff and team development.
Sound administration and financial management.
Developing a sustainable funding base for the programme.
Networking and collaboration.
Research and documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

A commitment to following Christ to the margins, to the local church and ecumenism.
A commitment to the most vulnerable and to social justice.
A commitment to work and learn in the urban context.
The ability to work in a team and to practice servant leadership.
The willingness to work with a project from the pioneering phase to sustainability.

SKILLS NEEDED:

Strong communications skills.
Possess well developed decision-making skills, attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to excel in a diverse, collaborative team environment.
Possess a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential issues.
Able to multi-task and remain calm in demanding and unpredictable situations.
Ability to work and communicate with very diverse people.
Display a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
Possess excellent time management skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

Qualification in Humanities, eg. Theology, Social work or related degree.
Five years of previous and relevant experience.
Computer literate; experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook, Internet, etc.
