Title: Program Assistant, Education Team (Contract)

Summary

The Education Team at the Wikimedia Foundation is a dynamic and multidisciplinary team that supports the integration of Free Knowledge in education. The team is currently supporting two large scale initiatives aimed at capacity building in the education sector: Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom and Wikidata for Education. Additionally, the team supports a vast network of volunteers and allies known as the EduWiki Network through a comprehensive community support strategy.

The Education Team is seeking a Program Assistant to contribute 30 hours a week for 6 months to supporting the Education Team’s core work. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in education and technology, and a background managing programs and projects.

What you will do:

  • Develop an in depth understanding of the Education Team’s ongoing work
  • Support administrative tasks such as organizing and scheduling events, preparing slide decks, preparing documents
  • Support components of ongoing projects as directed by the Senior Program Manager
  • Update information on Meta Wiki related to ongoing work and priorities

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong organizational skills: prioritization, organization, planning, time management, stakeholder management, facilitation, problem solving, and decision-making
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills
  • Tolerance for ambiguity and ability to manage complex problems
  • The ability to thrive in a globally-distributed team and nurture and maintain positive, respectful professional relationships
  • Experience with Asana, Slack and similar tools
