mothers2mothers (m2m) is an African Primary Health Care organisation that employs women living with HIV as community health workers across 10 African nations. These “Mentor Mothers” deliver integrated health services at clinics and in communities to ensure everyone, everywhere, has access to the services they need to be healthy and stay in care.

Since 2001, m2m has created jobs for nearly 12,000 women living with HIV and reached over 15 million people with critical health services and education. In 2021 alone, m2m reached over 1.6 million people, including over 400,000 adolescents, and achieved virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV among its enrolled clients for the eighth consecutive year.

Job Description

The Professional Nurse will implement clinical nursing activities aligned with PMTCT and Comprehensive Combination Prevention services, following Lesotho’s national ART guidelines. The role focuses on delivering essential care to Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women (PBFW) and other secondary beneficiaries through community outreach and household visits.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Direct Service Delivery

• Initiate PrEP and provide HTS at community level
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure linkage to ART
• Deliver nurse-led services and outreach
• Collaborate with Mentor Mothers and VHWs for defaulter tracing and home visits
• Support ANC1 protocols and referral processes
• Coordinate sample collection and lab follow-ups
• Monitor ART adherence and follow up on missed appointments

Administration, HR & Financial Management

• Line manage Mentor Mothers and conduct performance appraisals
• Facilitate training and mentorship for field staff
• Report performance issues to Project Coordinator and HR Officer
• Coordinate disciplinary actions and ensure policy compliance
• Support QA/QI activities and research initiatives

Data Quality Management

• Collaborate with M&E Officers to ensure accurate and timely data reporting
• Submit signed attendance registers and timesheets
• Incorporate BIO Lifestyle into data quality processes

Representation & Stakeholder Engagement

• Participate in facility and DHMT clinical meetings
• Represent m2m in community and facility forums
• Collaborate with stakeholders and communicate effectively with management


Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in General Nursing
• Registered with Lesotho Nursing Council
• Postgraduate qualification in HIV/AIDS or Health Management (advantageous)
• Clinical experience in HIV prevention services (preferred)
• HTS certification (advantageous)
