Production Superintendent ( HRL 15U )
Sappi Southern Africa requires a Production Superintendent t o manage and coordinate all activities within the Primary Production Department to achieving set targets and objectives.
This role reports in to the Production Manager
The main responsibilities of this job are:
- Plan and coordinate all departmental production activities daily, weekly and monthly
- Draw up, rollout and ensure department targets and objectives are met ito BP
- Ensuring process throughput, recoveries and efficiencies are according to Plan
- Production meetings with section foreman, Production Manager and Mill Management
- Safety meetings with MDT
- Control the department budget
- Coordinate efforts to minimize downtime and waste in the department
- Assist the Production manager in formulating new procedures and reviewing of current documents and compliance to Mill system requirements
- Ensure department complies with statutory requirements
- Identify and assess high-risk area in the department and make recommendations to effectively mitigate the risk
- Liaises with other departments on an ongoing basis, e.g. Secondary Production and Engineering.
- Draw-up departmental forecasts and reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Ensure safety, health, quality and environmental requirements within the department are met and adjust where and when required
- Ensure training and competence reviews are done within the department
- Ensure department overtime is monitored and controlled within budget
- Ensure HR and IR issues are managed in accordance to Policy
- Review/appraise subordinates performance
- Manage incidents in the department
- Ensure all administration within the department is done
The ideal candidate should have:
- Production / Wood Technology Diploma / Degree or equivalent
- 6 years relevant managerial experience leading various teams
- Experience in drymill operations with fingerjointing and timber grading will be an advantage.
