The Government of Lesotho, with support of international partners, has embarked on an ambitious national programme for Integrated Catchment Management (ICM) under the name of ReNOKA – ‘we are a river’. The European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has commissioned the Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to support the Government of Lesotho in the implementation of a technical cooperation project “Support to integrated catchment management in Lesotho”.

The programme aims to support implementation of ICM that will rehabilitate degraded watersheds across the country and to put in place prevention measures that will halt the further degradation of Lesotho’s catchment areas in line with climate change adaptation principles.

GIZ aims to support the national ReNOKA programme through the production of a series of video documentaries and is seeking to appoint a film/video-documentary production company to produce a ReNOKA documentary series that will capture the beginning of the programme, progress and impact of intervention at the end of the programme phase.

Tasks to be performed by the contractor

This contract is for companies (no application by individuals permitted). The contractor is responsible for providing the following services:

  • Pre-Production, production and post-production a of video documentary series to document the rationale of ReNOKA and specific impact stories:
    • One documentary (5-7 minutes) to introduce ReNOKA national programme, relevance and principles of integrated catchment management in Lesotho
    • 8 short documentaries of between 3 and 4 minutes length to document specific areas of progress between 2022 and 2023.
    • One summative/ final documentary (24 minutes) at the end of the programme period ´ that documents the results of integrated catchment management
  • Capacity building on audio-video storytelling and citizen journalism for relevant stakeholders in Lesotho.

The Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) invites eligible and professional companies with local presence in Lesotho and the SADC region to participate in this tender.
