Production Maintanance Controller ( P11 )
Temporal Position
Sappi Tugela Mill requires a Production Maintanance Controller to safely perform operating and maintenance tasks to manufacture Fuel rods for Boilers. Ensure production targets are met with long-term plant availability and reliability, thereby contributing to the overall equipment effectiveness.
This role reports into the Utilities Foreman
The main responsibilities of this job are:
- Operates and maintain a Fuel rod plant to manufacture Fuel for boilers, alternative fuel to replace coal.
- Schedule maintenance for the plant according to notifications and Planned Schedules
- Perform fault finding on systems during operation and rectify or correct production parameters to ensure product conforms to specification.
- Perform fault finding on systems during breakdowns and repair or correct equipment to keep downtime to a minimum
- Perform daily and weekly inspections on equipment according to a detailed inspection list.
- Report all unsafe acts and rectify where needed and report corrective action to the Utilities Foreman.
- Withdraw spare parts and equipment from Main Stores utilising SAP as required by the task being performed.
- Improve and maintain Master Data in SAP’s accuracy and comply with work order business processes and update as required.
- Comply to Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) requirements of the Mill and section.
- Do Equipment Isolation / Lockout of the process when performing isolations / Lockouts of the equipment.
- Investigate incidents and identify root causes of Non-Conformances and take corrective actions on all deviations as required.
- Take charge of two Driver/Loader operators and one helper.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping in the workplace and workshop at all times.
- Take product samples and analyse samples as laid down in the ISO procedures.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Recognised Trade Test Certificate as a Mechanical Fitter
- Grade 12 or N2 Engineering
- N3 Engineering would be preferred
- 2 years post-apprenticeship experience in a heavy engineering environment will be advantageous
- Valid Driving Licence
