The main purpose of the job is to support and lead introductions of new products / variants in Production and Customer Adaptation (CA), i.e. customer unique solutions.
Reporting: This role will report to the Engineering/Maintenance Manager
Job Objectives

Propose, investigate and introduce new tools and equipment.

Propose, investigate and introduce assembly solutions/designs for local adaptations.

Prepare and update assembly instructions (CA instructions).
-
Conduct workload analyses and prepare manning needs for activities.
-
Support CA assembly in problem solving, to find and establish solutions.
-
Create, propose and introduce continual improvements in CA assembly process.
-
Initiate and prepare business cases for local changes and improvements.
-
All job done according lean manufacturing principles and in close cooperation with Volvo Truck central organization.

Being part of engineering team in Durban plant also means to support colleagues in other areas such as Production Engineering, Maintenance etc….
Education & Job Experience
-
Production Engineering/Operations Management Diploma and/or a high level of technical knowledge/qualification (highly advantageous)

A minimum of 5 years from similar engineering role in an Automotive or similar industry

Must be Computer Literate.

Must have AutoCAD or any other related software experience (not pre-requisite).

Must have Portfolio/One pager of an example of any implementation/s you have worked with (not pre-requisite).

Must have experience in working in and with industrial projects/assignments (highly advantageous).
