The Directorate of Dispute Prevention and Resolution (DDPR) is a statutory body established in terms of the Labour Code (Amendment) Act 2000. A public institution whose operations are overseen by the Industrial Relations Council (IRC). Its main functions are to prevent and speedily resolve trade disputes through conciliation and/or arbitration.

The Directorate invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for One (1) position of PROCUREMENT AND TECHNICAL OFFICER tenable at Maseru DDPR Head Office, Maseru.

The Procurement and Technical Officer shall be answerable to the Finance Manager in the performance of the following duties and responsibilities –
(1) Evaluating Suppliers, Products and Services and maintaining positive supplier relations;
(2) Overseeing all Purchasing Activities and maintaining accurate records;
(3) Negotiating Contracts and ensuring that approved purchases are cost efficient and of high quality;
(4) Researching and evaluating prospective suppliers;
(5) Advising Employers and Employees or the Trade Unions and Employers’ Organisations, on the best ways of the prevention of trade disputes;
(6) Preparing and following a general maintenance schedule of tools, materials and parts;
(7) Diagonising equipment malfunction and arranging for repairs;
(8) Keeping a maintenance record and filing documents, invoices and instruction manuals;
(9) Reporting maintenance and repair tasks to Management for approval;
(10) Assist in Maintaining the DDPR Asset Register.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Diploma in Business Management Plus At least Five Years Working Experience;
• Basic Computer Skills in Word and Excel. Proficiency in any purchasing software will be an added advantage.

ATTRIBUTES
Good analytical and strategic skills, attention to detail. Strong communication and negotiation skills. The candidate short be pro-active and self-driven. Should be compatible and approachable. A sense of urgency and prioritisation of responsibilities. Excellent writing skills and fluency in both Sesotho and English.

A valid Driver’s License with at least three (3) years driving experience is required.
