Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following vacant positions tenable in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition.
Position Title: Procurement Assistant
Ministry: Agriculture, Food Security & Nutrition
Department: Field Services
Grade: E
Number of Positions: One (1)
Responsible To: Assistant Procurement Officer
Location: Mokhotlong
Purpose of the Role
To monitor the security of the stores premises and the items stored in them, and to provide up-to-date information on stock availability.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Monitoring of Stock
- Facilitate deliveries and issuance of goods to end users
- Report deficiencies in delivered goods to the Assistant Procurement Officer
- Record and report stock losses accurately and promptly
- Prepare daily stock reports to ensure adequate availability
- Ensure proper certification of stock inspection, storage, and issuance
2. Inventory Management
- Conduct physical stock checks against ledger/bin card balances
- Take physical inventories in stores and other locations
- Update and reconcile stores ledger and bin cards with inventory system
- Advise user divisions on items nearing reorder levels
Education and Experience
Option 1:
- Diploma in Business Management, Business Studies, Public Administration, or Supply Chain Management
- PLUS CIPS Foundation Diploma / Advanced Certificate
Option 2:
- Diploma in Business Management, Business Studies, Public Administration, or Supply Chain Management
- PLUS at least 2 years of experience as Procurement Clerk or in procurement/inventory management
Option 3:
- COSC/GCE
- PLUS CIPS Foundation Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Purchasing and Supply
- PLUS at least 4 years of experience in procurement or inventory management
Note: Membership in a relevant professional body in procurement and supply chain management is an added advantage.

- Supervision Received: Reports to Assistant Procurement Officer; guided by Lesotho Constitution, Public Service Act, and Public Procurement Regulations 2007

- Contacts: Maintains regular contact with Assistant Procurement Officer

- Emotional Effort: Ability to resolve work-related issues or seek guidance when needed
- Unfavourable Working Conditions: Minimal
- Hazards: Minimal, but awareness of store-related risks is required
