Processing Plant Operator Vacancy

About the Role
The Processing Plant Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of equipment within the diamond processing plant, ensuring optimal recovery and quality of diamonds. This role requires diligence, adherence to procedures, and a strong commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor crushers, screens, scrubbers, dense media separation (DMS) units, jigs, and sorting equipment.
- Ensure the smooth and continuous flow of material through the processing plant.
- Conduct regular inspections and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning screens, lubricating equipment, and clearing blockages.
- Monitor process parameters (e.g., density, flow rates) and make necessary adjustments to optimize performance.
- Collect samples for quality control and analysis.
- Adhere strictly to safety procedures and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report safety hazards or incidents immediately.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Assist with plant start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Communicate effectively with plant personnel and supervisors.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Accurately record operational data and production information.
Qualifications and Experience
- COSC/LGCSE. A qualification in a technical field or equivalent experience is an added advantage.
- Candidates with experience in other mineral processing will also be considered.
- Basic understanding of diamond processing principles and equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
- Strong diligence and a commitment to quality.
- Good mechanical aptitude and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to work shifts and overtime as required.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
