Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following vacant positions tenable at the Ministry of Law and Justice.
DEPARTMENT : GOVERNMENT PRINTING
JOB TITLE : PRINTING ASSISTANT (5)
GRADE : áŽ
RESPONSIBLE TO : SENIOR PRINTING OFFICER
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of Senior Printing Officer, the Printing Assistant is responsible for printing, mending and recording.
MAIN DUTIES:
1. PRINTING
1.1. Collect and put the job in sequence as per instruction to ensure readiness to start a particular operation.
1.2. Collects, gathers, sews, machine folds, cuts, binds, and operates the guillotine and other equipment in the section.
1.3. Fold the printed sheets under instruction to enable other finished operations to be carried out.
1.4. Fold printed work in accordance with agreed imposition to ensure that printed pages appear in correct sequence.
1.5. Gather numbered and unnumbered printed work in sequence for stitching and binding.
1.6. Examine gathered and stitched work to ensure that they are complete and in a correct sequence.
1.7. Saddle or side stitch the gathered or inserted sections to hold them together as a complete product.
1.8. Trim under instruction, complete products to get them ready for dispatch to customers
1.9. Records on appropriate forms time taken and material used on the job to facilitate proper costing.
1.10. Check the job frequently during the run to make sure that the same quality is maintained throughout.
2. MACHINE MENDING
2.1. Wash and oil the machine daily to be ready for use.
2.2. Ensure safety and security of the ongoing and completed work.
3. RECORDING
3.1. Record on appropriate forms the hours taken on the job and material used to facilitate proper costing.
JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Education and Training
Diploma/Certificate in Business studies or any related field plus two (2) years’ experience in printing industry is requested
OR
In Promotion of servicing officers/COSC plus six (6) years’ experience in printing industry is requested.
