Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions tenable in the Teaching Service for Government and Church-Owned Schools across Lesotho.
NOTE:
All positions are open to both qualified unemployed teachers and serving teachers who have acquired higher qualifications.

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR POST-PRIMARY SCHOOL PRINCIPALS
Job Summary
The Principal shall provide effective and efficient leadership and management in all academic, administrative, and extra-curricular aspects of the school. He/she serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the school.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Administration
- Motivate teaching and non-teaching staff by articulating and modelling the school’s vision, mission, and values.
- Promote quality teaching and learning in accordance with the MOET curriculum.
- Lead the preparation, review, and evaluation of the school strategic plan and annual operating plan, subject to board approval.
- Prepare the annual budget and submit a financial statement to the School Board within three months after each school year ends.
- Oversee proper record maintenance in accordance with the Education Act and regulations.
- Conduct performance evaluations for teachers and other staff using an appropriate performance management system.
- Maintain discipline among teachers and learners in line with the school code of conduct.
- Provide accurate statistical returns to MOET within two months of the start of the school year or as required.
- Promote strong community relations and partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with the Teaching Service Department (TSD) to maintain proper school establishment in line with TSD policy and procedures.
2. Teaching
Although the principal may have a reduced teaching load, they are expected to:
- Demonstrate outstanding teaching and curriculum leadership.
- Prepare high-quality lessons in their subject area.
- Plan, coordinate, administer, and evaluate learners’ academic progress.
- Facilitate the development and production of teaching and learning materials.
- Mentor less experienced teachers.
Competencies and Skills
- Strong leadership and ability to guide the direction and development of the school.
- Ability to supervise teaching and learning effectively.
- Competence in developing and empowering staff.
- Strong organizational and resource management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Job Specification
Qualifications and Experience
- M.Ed or equivalent, with at least 5 years teaching experience, 2 years as Senior Teacher I, satisfactory performance, and required competencies; OR
- B.Ed or equivalent, with 10 years teaching experience, 3 years as Deputy Principal, satisfactory performance, and required competencies; OR
- B.Ed or equivalent, with 10 years teaching experience, 5 years as Senior Teacher I, satisfactory performance, and required competencies.
Added Advantage:
- Minimum of 3 years’ continuous experience in school administration or leadership.
- Attendance at school leadership or management training programs.
Salary Range (Principal Post-Primary):
M290,052.00 – M359,676.00 per annum
