ADVERTISEMENT FOR VACANCIES IN SCHOOLS
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions tenable at the Teaching Service for Government and Church-Owned Schools around Lesotho.
NOTE:
All positions are open for both qualified unemployed teachers and serving teachers who have acquired higher qualifications.

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR POST PRIMARY SCHOOL PRINCIPALS
JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent shall provide effective and efficient leadership and management in academic, administrative and extra-curricular aspects of the school. She/he is the Chief Executive Officer of the school.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Administration
- To motivate the teaching and non-teaching staff through articulating and modelling the Vision, Mission and Values of the school.
- To promote meaningful teaching and quality learning at the school in consonance with MOET curriculum provisions.
- To lead the preparation, review and evaluation of the school strategic plan and annual operating plans subject to approval of the school board.
- To prepare an annual budget and submit it to the board a financial statement of the school within three months of the end of each school year.
- To oversee the proper maintenance of records of a school as provided for in the regulations made by the Minister under the Education Act.
- To carry out performance evaluation of teachers and other staff that report to the principal using an appropriate performance management system.
- To maintain discipline of teachers under his or her supervision in line with the disciplinary code of conduct.
- To maintain and enforce discipline among learners in the school as provided for in the school disciplinary code of conduct.
- To provide accurate statistical returns to MOET within two months of the commencement of a new school year or as may be stipulated in the regulations.
- To promote harmonious public relationships with the community, related institutions and other publics as may be required by the social, economic and cultural norms.
- To work closely with the Teaching Service Department in maintaining proper establishment of the school as per the TSD establishment policy and procedures.
2) Teaching
The principal may have a significantly reduced teaching load. The key responsibilities are:
- To demonstrate outstanding teaching in the learning areas;
- To prepare exceptional lessons in their field of specialisation;
- To take on a curriculum leadership role in respect of the subject or learning area;
- To plan, coordinate, control, administer, evaluate and report on learners’ academic progress;
- To facilitate the development and production of teaching and learning materials;
- To mentor the less experienced teachers.

Applications, including certified copies of relevant qualifications, registration certificate, marriage certificate (where necessary), two reference letters and copy IDs, must reach the District Education Office – Human Resource Offices and copies to the School Board and Educational Secretary and Supervisor Government Schools by 16:30 on the 9th March, 2026.
