The LLWSS is a bulk water supply designed for the lowlands of Lesotho.
JOB TITLE: Principal Legal Officer
GRADE: Special Grade

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director, LLWSSU
TENURE: 2 Years
JOB SUMMARY
The Principal Legal Officer is needed to advise on legal obligations and further legal requirements for completing the projects and the legal framework under which the project takes place and shall advise the LLWSSU and the consultants/contractors of any legal steps which may be required to ensure that there are no delays in the successful implementation of the project.
The officer shall prepare pro-forma legal agreements and check all the legal agreements on behalf of the Unit including land acquisition and resettlement. The officer shall have knowledge of national and relevant international water legislation.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Law (LLB) Degree or Juris Doctor (JD) with a minimum of 10 years of legal experience
- Admission to practice as an advocate in the High Court
- An understanding of, among others, environmental laws, water resources laws, and basic science and engineering, policy development, economics, and technology
