VACANCY NOTICE
APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FROM SUITABLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES
for the following vacant position tenable in the Ministry of Natural Resources, within the Lesotho Lowlands Water Supply Scheme Unit (LLWSSU). The LLWSS is a bulk water supply project designed for the lowlands of Lesotho.
Job Title: Principal Legal Officer
Grade: Special Grade
Number of Positions: 1 (One)
Responsible to: Director – LLWSSU
Tenure: 2 Years
Job Summary
The Principal Legal Officer is required to advise on legal obligations and further legal requirements for completing the projects and the legal framework under which the project takes place. The officer shall advise the LLWSSU and the consultants/contractors on any legal steps required to ensure that there are no delays in the successful implementation of the project.
The officer shall also:
- Prepare pro-forma legal agreements
- Review all legal agreements on behalf of the Unit, including those related to land acquisition and resettlement
- Possess knowledge of national and relevant international water legislation
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of a Bachelor of Law (LLB) Degree or Juris Doctor (JD) with a minimum of 10 years of legal experience. Admission to practice as an advocate in the High Court, an understanding of, among others, the environmental laws, water resources laws and basic science and engineering, policy development, economics, and technology.
