Position Title: Principal Investigation Officer

Grade: H
Number of Posts: Fifteen (15)
Responsible To: Chief Investigation Officer


Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Chief Investigation Officer, the Principal Investigation Officer is responsible for conducting investigations, maintaining suspects’ files and exhibits, attending court proceedings, and ensuring all investigative processes comply with legal, ethical, and professional standards.


Main Duties

  1. Handle and mobilise informants
  2. Investigate reported cases of corruption
  3. Execute Directorate operations as directed
  4. Prepare reports and witness statements, providing evidence of fact and opinion
  5. Attend Court of Law to give evidence
  6. Maintain and safeguard suspects’ files and exhibits
  7. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Investigation Officer

Job Specification

  • Education:
    Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), Social Sciences Degree, or equivalent
  • Experience:
    Minimum of 3 years’ investigative experience in any of the following fields:
    • Taxation
    • Auditing
    • Financial Investigation (White Collar Crime)

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High personal integrity and self-motivation
  • Methodical and disciplined approach to work
  • Proficiency in English and Sesotho (written and spoken)
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Computer literacy

  • Provide a police clearance certificate
  • Attach verification certificates from the Council of Higher Education (CHE)
  • Be free of any criminal or misconduct record
  • Be prepared to resign from the Public Service
  • Be willing to undergo vetting
  • Be available for placement in any of the ten districts of Lesotho
