Position Title: Principal Anti-Corruption Prosecutor

Grade: H
Number of Posts: Six (6)
Responsible To: Chief Anti-Corruption Prosecutor


Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Chief Anti-Corruption Prosecutor, the incumbent will represent DCEO in all court proceedings and contribute to the formulation and monitoring of corruption, economic offences, and money laundering cases.


Main Duties

  1. Represent DCEO in both criminal and civil matters in courts of law
  2. Conduct civil litigation, including freezing and confiscation of property
  3. Review dockets and advise on cases within DCEO’s mandate
  4. Provide ongoing legal guidance to internal investigators
  5. Draft charges and indictments; prosecute appeals and reviews
  6. Disseminate legal information to law enforcement, NGOs, judiciary, and other stakeholders
  7. Train stakeholders on developments in corruption and money laundering laws
  8. Liaise with national, regional, and international bodies on relevant matters
  9. Promote, protect, and monitor anti-corruption and economic offences initiatives in Lesotho

Job Specification

  • Education:
    LLB or equivalent
  • Experience:
    Minimum of 3 years’ legal practice
    Must be admitted as an Advocate/Attorney in Lesotho
    Experience in prosecution and civil recovery proceedings

Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of the Prevention of Corruption and Economic Offences Act and money laundering laws
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High personal integrity and self-motivation
  • Methodical and disciplined approach to work
  • Background knowledge or experience in corruption and money laundering (advantageous)
  • Proficiency in civil litigation and legal drafting
  • Willingness to travel extensively within and outside Lesotho

  • Attach verification certificates from the Council of Higher Education (CHE)
  • Be free of any criminal or misconduct record
  • Be prepared to resign from the Public Service
  • Be willing to undergo vetting
  • Be available for placement in any of the ten districts of Lesotho
