PREVENTION MANAGER – MASERU

Job Summary

The Prevention Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing HIV prevention programs for AHF Lesotho in alignment with national strategies, AHF global prevention standards, and donor requirements. The position ensures effective delivery of prevention interventions, community engagement, integration with treatment services, and strong collaboration with the Ministry of Health and implementing partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Program Planning & Implementation
  • Lead the design, implementation, and scale-up of evidence-based HIV prevention interventions in line with AHF and MOH guidelines.
  • Ensure integration of prevention services with HIV testing, treatment, care, and support programs.
  • Oversee community-based prevention activities including condom programming, HIV testing promotion, behavior change communication, and key population interventions.
  • Develop and implement annual work plans and activity schedules for prevention programs.
2. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Coordinate prevention activities with MOH departments, district health teams, civil society partners, and community structures.
  • Represent AHF Lesotho in prevention-related technical working groups, meetings, and forums.
  • Strengthen referral networks between community prevention services and health facilities.
3. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
  • Ensure routine monitoring of prevention indicators and targets in line with AHF and national M&E frameworks.
  • Work closely with the M&E team to ensure accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit timely programmatic reports to management.
  • Use data to inform program improvements and strategic decision-making.
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure prevention activities comply with AHF policies, donor requirements, and national standards.
  • Conduct regular supportive supervision and field visits to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Identify program gaps, risks, and challenges and propose corrective actions.
5. Team Leadership & Capacity Building
  • Supervise, mentor, and support prevention staff and community teams.
  • Build capacity of staff and partners through training, coaching, and technical support.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and high performance within the prevention team.
6. Budget & Resource Management
  • Contribute to prevention program budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with finance and management teams.
  • Monitor prevention expenditures to ensure efficient and cost-effective use of resources.
  • Support procurement planning for prevention commodities and program needs.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field (required).
  • Master’s degree in Public Health or related field is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with clients in HIV/AIDS programs, public health institutions, community services or medical setting.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HIV prevention or public health programming.
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience working with key populations and community-based programs preferred.
  • Experience working with NGOs or international organizations is an advantage.
