VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR PrEP NURSE
ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
Disabled and HIV/AIDS Organization Lesotho (DHAOL) is a non-governmental organization aimed at providing comprehensive care and support to people affected and infected by HIV and persons with disabilities.
DHAOL is implementing the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Project – Country Operational Plan in Maseru district. The objective of this grant for DHAOL to implement activities and interventions that support HIV prevention, care, and treatment services for MSM and TGs residing or working in Maseru district as well as to Increase the demand, uptake, and continuity of high-risk HIV negative KP on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). We are doing HIV Testing, Condoms and lubricants distribution, TB and GBV Screening, as well as VMMC, PrEP and ART referrals
DHAOL Seeks to appoint 1 competent PrEP Nurse to be based in Maseru
Job Title: PrEP Nurse
Location: DHAOL Maseru office
Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in a related field.
Employment Type: Fixed-term contract
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Providing a nurse-led PrEP services to men who have sex with other men (MSM)
• Initiating those in need of PrEP and do PrEP refills at the DHAOL Drop-in- Centre (DIC)
• Working hand in hand with the Peer Navigators and Case Manager in making sure that those at risk know about PrEP and current
• Referring onwards to providers who can facilitate the ART initiation to the MSMs found positive
• Facilitating adherence education and support to the MSMs:
i. The need for high level of adherence to the dosing of medication schedule
ii. Advising the clients on the optimum dosing time looking at his work and leisure routine so that he does not miss the dosing
iii. Strategies to assist adherence such as visual and electronic reminders, pill boxes, preparing for the unexpected; keeping a supply at work, in the car, in a bag etc.
• Educating the clients on how to seek for help if unexpected side-effects occur
• The PrEP Nurse will directly report to Ministry of Health through Health Facilities
• He/ She specifically target the MSMs and provide them with PrEP services
• He/ She will oversee the component of PrEP delivery, work planning and reporting
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, WORK EXPERIENCE AND KEY COMPETENCIES
• Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery. A degree in the same field will be an added advantage
• At least 2 years of experience of designing and implementing health project related to HIV testing and treatment
• Demonstrate experience in working with programs addressing the health needs of Men who have Sex with other Men (MSMs)
• The experience gained in Lesotho is desired and preferred
• Must demonstrate skills in project reporting especially in PEPFAR funded programs
