Job Vacancy: PrEP-eMTCT Program Nurse

Location: Maseru District, Lesotho


Position Description

The Project Nurse will play a key role in supporting the implementation of PrEP services for pregnant and breastfeeding women (PBFW) within maternal and child health platforms.

The nurse will provide direct technical support at the facility level, assist with training and mentorship, and ensure quality service delivery aligned with national guidelines and WHO recommendations.

Working under the general supervision of the Senior Technical Advisor, the nurse will operate at the implementation site, ensuring quality service delivery.

This full-time position will be based at the study site in Maseru District and may require local travel for coordination.
The ideal candidate will have an obstetric background with experience in PrEP implementation in ANC and PNC settings, and a strong understanding of HIV prevention strategies for women.


Responsibilities

  • Support integration of PrEP services into ANC and PNC platforms at designated health facilities.
  • Provide clinical mentorship and on-the-job training to facility staff on PrEP delivery, including long-acting injectable options such as LEN and CAB-LA.
  • Assist in updating and disseminating clinical tools, job aids, and SOPs for PrEP service delivery.
  • Participate in facility-level orientations and capacity-building sessions.
  • Monitor service delivery quality and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collect and report data on PrEP uptake, adherence, and client outcomes.
  • Collaborate with facility teams to ensure alignment with national protocols and project goals.
  • Participate in regular team meetings.
  • Perform any other related duties.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Nurse with a valid practicing license in Lesotho.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience, preferably in maternal and child health or HIV prevention.
  • Experience delivering PrEP services or working within ANC/PNC settings is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with MOH systems and reporting tools.
  • Experience engaging with pregnant and breastfeeding populations preferred.
  • Must be registered with any professional body of the Government of Lesotho.
  • Nonjudgmental attitude, humanitarian values, and ethics are absolute preconditions.
  • Energetic, independent, and self-motivated.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English and Sesotho.
