Objectives of the Position:


Lead Trade Agreement activities (EPA, SADC and AGOA) MBSA and ensure that MBSA is compliant with the applicable local Trade Agreement regulations. Responsible for organizing, coordinating and monitoring the operational procedures and processes for the determination and use of the preferential and non-preferential origin of all C-class vehicles, components and parts at MBSA, under the applicable regulative framework and the customs authorizations of MBSA. Support for the APDP plan/actuals reporting activities and adhoc departmental Projects (APDP, Customs and Trade Agreements).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to all applicable compliance guidelines and to the requirements of our ICS program. Follow the DAI compliance regulations.

  • Assimilate Supplier Declarations and the related electronic data exchange system on preferential origin („Supplier Portal“).

  • Ensures that all EU certificates are issued timely and accurately.

  • Handles and coordinate all Pref Origin requirements with Local and Global Stakeholders.

  • Handles and coordinates official request for verification and official customs audits on preferential origin.

  • Implement actions and processes to optimise MBSA business activities in terms of EPA, SADC and AGOA certification.

  • Ensure all relevant import licenses and certifications are obtained and remain valid – aligned with the requirements of EPA,SADC certification and AGOA.

  • Conduct regular risk analysis and checks on the company to ensure compliance with the applicable customs regulations related to preferential origin. Develop and manage internal control programs to monitor and report Preferential Origin compliance within the organisation (ICS).

  • Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the IT-supported preferential origin calculation process and related processes to collect the required information/data incl. bottom- up and partial declaration.

  • Responsible for customs process documentation related to preferential origin and for the ongoing improvement of the existing processes and the documentation thereof, incl. the preparation of guidelines, manuals, checklists etc.

  • Responsible for preparation of status updates on all Preferential Origin activities and prepare presentations for Management reporting, BOD, Excom etc.

  • Support with Incentive planning for OP, EA1, EA2, MR11 etc. Oversee monthly tracking of actuals vs plan. Ensure monthly and ad hoc management reports are prepared accurately and timely. Assist Accounting and Controlling Colleagues with any queries on actuals and plan. Responsible for Planning of Duty off-set, tracking with actuals and prepare and post Duty off-set journals. Evaluate monthly movement analysis and report to Management (Excom, BOD).

  • Support ad hoc departmental projects – Preferential Origin,Customs and APDP. Stand-in for APDP and Customs Specialists. Support with AIS claims.

  • Self-development. Taking personal responsibility for learning and development through a process of assessment, reflection and actioning. This can include both on and/or off the job training. This also includes the sharing of learnings with team. Remain updated and informed of any changes in customs regulations and foreign trade law.
