PLUG association is hosting their ninth Posterheroes contest and invites submissions of poster designs on the subject: Humans at work.

Posterheroes is an international contest about social design and social communication asking to the international creative community to express powerful messages through a poster 50×70 cm or 70×100 cm about social and environmental issues.

Participants have the chance to win a cash prize, take part in many exhibitions and events and be featured in Posterheroes publications and editorial projects. The total cash prize fund for 2020 is 2,500 Euro.

The current edition is called Humans at work and is about future work scenarios and the role of dignified employment in the lives of individuals and in the sustainable development of society.

In contemporary society, work represents not only the main means of subsistence for human life, but also the element capable of guaranteeing security, responding to the needs of belonging and self-fulfillment and defining the relationship between oneself and the others in a wider context.

The world of work, however, in recent decades has undergone a very rapid transformative process and it has been influenced, on a global level, by a wide range of factors, with specific consequences in different territorial areas.

For some years the International Labour Organization has introduced the concept of “decent work”, promoting a positive scenario in which employment is carried out in conditions of freedom, equality, security and human dignity for men and women, with self-respect, in well-being and guaranteeing personal development for each human being. These are all key requirements for the achievement of sustainable development and social justice.

The winning posters are selected by a selection panel comprising international experts in the field of illustration, animation, arts, visual communication.

The Posterheroes contest, created in 2010 by PLUG association, is open to everyone and aims to involve especially young people and international artists.

The 2020 edition is hosted in collaboration with the Learning Innovation Program of the ITC-ILO.
