ACDI/VOCA is seeking qualified candidates for an upcoming Horticulture, Training, Gender, and Social Development (HTGSD) Activity in Lesotho funded by Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC). The available positions are below:

Sr. Social Behavior Change (SBC) Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant social science discipline required; master’s degree preferred.  
  • Minimum 10 years of experience designing and implementing SBC projects with a focus on community-based and gender responsive approaches in agriculture, water management, or food security.  
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management at a senior strategic/managerial level. 
  • Experience working on at least one project in Sub-Saharan Africa required; Lesotho preferred. 
  • English required (written and spoken); Sesotho is an advantage. 

Sr. Agriculture Marketing Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required; master’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience developing and implementing marketing strategies and systems for commercial horticulture, involving all aspects of the commodity chain (from post-harvest handling through retail).  
  • Experience working on agriculture marketing in at least one project in sub-Saharan Africa required. 
  • Fluency in English required (written and spoken). 

Sr. Youth and Agriculture Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s degree in rural development, agriculture, or the social sciences required; master’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a senior position designing and implementing programs that promote opportunity for youth (approximately 18-35) in commercial agriculture, and address challenges for youth in this sector. At least three of these years should be in sub-Saharan Africa. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in designing or implementing capacity building and training for youth in agriculture. 
  • Experience working with at least two projects that address gender in youth programs. 
  • Fluency in English required (written and spoken).

Sr. Governance Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s degree in community-led governance, participatory development or other relevant social science discipline required; master’s degree preferred.  
  • Minimum 10 years of experience designing and implementing community-led governance projects. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in programming related to farmer’s associations in the context of irrigated, commercial agriculture. 
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management at a strategic/managerial level. 
  • Experience in at least three projects integrating gender into community or project governance.  
  • Experience working on at least one project in sub-Saharan Africa required; Lesotho preferred. 
  • Fluency in English required (written and spoken). 

Sr. Horticulture Specialist:

  • Advanced degree in horticulture and post-harvest handling required. 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial agricultural project management, in low or lower-middle income countries, with at least 5 years of experience in commercial irrigated horticulture. At least 2 years should be in sub-Saharan Africa.  
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technology transfer in the horticulture field, including training and capacity building for emerging commercial farmers. 
  • Experience in at least one project involving nursery management and protected agriculture desirable. 
  • At least one year of experience conducting modern agricultural research in an agricultural development context. 
  • English required (written and spoken). 

Sr. Gender and Agriculture Specialist:

  • Master’s degree in gender or women’s studies in development, rural development, agriculture, anthropology, or related social science required.  
  • Minimum 10 years of experience at a senior level designing and implementing programs that promote opportunity for women in commercial agricultural production and marketing, including addressing gender norms and barriers. 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience applying gender and inclusion analysis and tools in development projects, including experience designing and/or implementing gender transformative approaches in the context of agriculture. 
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management at a senior strategic/managerial level. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience integrating gender into capacity building and training programs in agriculture. 
  • Experience with at least one project that analyzed or responded to gender risks in the context of women’s economic empowerment programs, including GBV.  
  • Experience working at a senior level with at least two projects related to gender and agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa. 
  • Fluency in English required (written and spoken).  

Sr. Commercial Horticulture Business Management and Finance Specialist:

  • Advanced degree in business or finance required. 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience designing and supporting agricultural business, finance, and financial management programs or systems for smallholder/emerging commercial farmers, preferably in horticulture.  
  • At least 5 years of experience in designing business and financial management training and capacity building for smallholder/emerging commercial farmers. 
  • English required (written and spoken).
