We currently have an opportunity for a Portfolio & Data Analyst to join our Controlling Team. Reporting to the Manager Planning/Controlling & Portfolio Risk Management, the core focus of this role is to generate and interpret Portfolio analysis and reports.

Requirement Overview:

Generate and interpret Portfolio analysis and reports, perform current business analysis and project base tasks. Monitor and validate scorecards used within the portfolio in compliance to the Company’s related Policies, Integrity & Anti Bribery Codes, Conflict of Interest Policy & S.H.E. requirements and to perform delegated S.H.E. tasks and duties & to inform superior about deviations. Responsible for technical implementation of data transfer over different storage formats on-prem or on-cloud. Generate aggregate data sets and establish new data features out of source data.

Key Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Design and maintain the monthly portfolio analysis reports fulfilling the requirements of the business making recommendations and providing feedback to the business. Also responsible for calculations of credit risk provisions as per IFRS 9 methodology.

  • Produce monthly portfolio reporting pack for senior management and credit risk managers, including detailed trend-analysis with comparative data.

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis based on individual business unit requests, providing feedback where necessary. This includes project based tasks like scorecard development based on the request from credit risk management.

  • Analysis of the portfolio utilising to recommend schemes and campaigns to optimise additional and new business opportunities in the market. Assist with ad hoc portfolio analysis and modelling as required.

  • Quarterly monitoring and validation of scorecard performance. This includes: monitoring scorecard performance (via monthly reports, full scorecard validations and ad-hoc analysis); reviewing and recommending changes to policy rules & score cut-offs to optimize the risk/reward equation; analyse the monthly report and identify any risk issues to Manager for actioning.

  • Technical implementation of data transfer over different storage formats and ensure that the moving data is happening in a secured manner and storage locations are set-up with respective access management.

  • Serves as a link between data provider and data consumer. Also generates aggregated data sets and establishes new data features out of source data.

  • Building new data sets (performing aggregation, joining, hashing, feature engineering) and providing these data sets in the required format and frequency to the customer.

Qualifications

Specific knowledge:

SAS programming skill and application

Knowledge of databases (SOL and Access) and statistical modelling methodologies

Experience

3 to 5 years’ experience in data management and data analysis

Experience in using SAS/SQL applications

Understanding and knowledge of scorecards

Education

Matric/Grade 12

Plus 3 year relevant qualification e.g. B Com in Computer Science/Statistics or numerical related degree advantageous

Previous work experience within a financial institution is advantageous
