Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation (EGPAF) is a USA based Organization with public health programs around the World. It creates a future of hope for children and families worldwide by eradicating pediatric AIDS, providing care and treatment for people with HIV and AIDS, and accelerating the discovery of new treatments for other serious and life threatening pediatric illnesses. EGPAF’s work is funded through private donations, PEPFAR via the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Centre for Disease Control (CDC)), Unit aid etc.
JOB SUMMARY
- Support Paediatric HIV Testing Initiatives (PITC, EID and outreach targeted testing)
- Improve linkages between diagnosis of HIV in children under five years of age and the initiation on treatment
- Collect DBS or venous blood specimens from infants and children as applicable, and ensure samples are logged, transported and stored as per SOPS.
- Prepare DBS from EDTA tubes for HIV DNA PCR testing
- Perform Point of care HIV molecular diagnostic tests, such as HIV DNA PCR testing using dried blood spots (DBS) or plasma following acceptable standard operating procedures.
- Perform HIV rapid, Syphilis and related POC and Near POC testing following acceptable standard operating procedures. (Where applicable).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Nursing Assistants: Certificate in Nursing
EXPERIENCE
Experience or training in HIV Testing and Counseling
Experience working in a clinical diagnostic laboratory or research study would be an added advantage
