You will be accountable for the coordination and enabling the site Asset & technology leader in the overall loss prevention of the plant equipment and process technology, site facilities & buildings to support delivery of the SQCDSM metrics. You will ensure un-interrupted service is provided by 100% compliance to Local legal regulations, Quality, Health Safety & Environment management systems and standards.

How you will contribute

In line with the job purpose, key outputs of this job will entail the following:

You will:

  • Co-ordinate the execution of Building Maintenance program, Facilities maintenance program, Capex management & OPEX (M&R) budgets, site Technology & Automation maintenance, Asset & Master data management, Service providers/ OEM-original equipment mfg. contracts & SLA-site level agreement adherence, adherence to Manufacturing standards, Governance, Compliance requirements are adhered to.
  • Implement IL6S-Integrated Lean 6 sigma ways of working: delivering zero breakdowns via preventive/predictive maintenance strategies and technical mastery of maintenance and operation teams; PM (Progressive Maintenance) Pillar, and CBM (condition based monitoring), Visual controls & tools Mgmt., Loss elimination, Lubrication mgmt. & Calibration of equipment(s) etc.
  • Role model Values and principles through effective coaching, and building capability of Operating teams via specific training on routine maintenance, equipment breakdown and CIL techniques
  • Interface with key stakeholders internally & externally to develop and maintain effective relationships, align priorities in order to deliver the company objectives, and goals.

  • Advanced knowledge (including AM-Autonomous Maintenance Step 4 systems & Progressive Maintenance Step 3) & skill to maintain the dedicated equipment(s) at basic conditions independently, including the execution of AM & PM (BD-Breakdown maintenance, planned maintenance) standards on dedicated equipment(s) and TPM – Phase 3 & 4 tools problem solving tools.
  • The capability to lead a Role for the Line. Qualify and coach the next level work process owners and drive the common opportunity areas across the line in PDCA-Plan Do Check Adjust approach.
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint) & experience in ERP systems. Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written), Analytical & Problem solving skills, strong collaboration and relationship management skills.

This position is new, this role require to develop the systems and develop

colleagues to start up the plant and to ensure the smooth running.

Purpose

The PM System Owner will be responsible to ensure highest equipment availability at the lowest cost for the equipment’s for the line/s/unit/s and execute the PM Systems of dairy plant and to provide support to Line lead in successfully delivering the optimum results and lead a team to deliver the SQCDSM targets of a dairy plant. To grow the capability of the team and to represent the company to the shop floor colleagues in line with the company’s values and principles

Key Responsibilities

In line with the job purpose, key outputs of this job will entail the following:

Health Safety and Environment

  • Implement HSE systems on the production line
  • Completed QRP, BOS, Safety maps, Risk Assessments, Near Misses, LOTO, Safety Defect Management
  • Deliver Safety KPI’s and EPIS
  • Reported and Investigated Safety Incidents

Quality

  • Develop HACCP and SOP’s for milk collection and dairy processing.
  • Implement Quality policies and procedures regarding PM system
  • Managed product quality and compliance to quality systems regarding relevant function.
  • Managed GMP, Housekeeping, pest control, sanitation and hygiene index of production lines
  • Managed Product and process control processes and completed product/process documentation, including finished product release

Delivery and Cost

  • Managed GE – Global Efficiency – Change over management, Stoppages, Preventative Maintenance
  • Delivered productivity targets – waste, efficiency and labour
  • Managed resources – Material, labour, energy, water

IL6S (CBN)

  • Form part of one of the IL6S pillars and lead an SWP within the overlapping structures
  • Manage the overlapping structure with line SWP to ensure pillar integration
  • Coach and support the SGA on IL6S tools
  • Drive and lead PM progression with line teams

People Management

  • Competent, motivated teams

In line with the job purpose, key accountabilities will entail the following:

  • Deliver overall SQCDSM targets for the Dairy plant related to all types of maintenance
  • Learn and apply PM methodologies for the maintenance and builds and executes PM systems for the dairy plant.
  • Represents Dairy plant in the department PM pillar team and/or represents the department in the pillar with the Maintenance Lead
  • Lead PM systems implementation in the line/units in line with the department PM master plan and PM systems compliance
  • Lead PM-AM skills transfer capability of the core team of dairy plant.
  • Build capability in the team and operators in AM tools and systems, on PM tools e.g. Breakdown Elimination and RCA
  • Participate in the DMS cycle for the line and executes the activities assigned in the 24 hour action plan
  • Build maintenance strategy including all preventative, predictive, time based maintenance and execute them with line teams
  • Ensure improvement in efficiency and cost in maintenance tasks increasing MTBB and reducing MTTR.
  • Owns and control the overall changes on the equipment’s on the line/unit and provide training and new standards for changes
  • Ensure the right level of Inventory of spares is maintained in line with maintenance plans for his line/s or unit/s
  • Lead the RCA of breakdowns with operators on the line and develop plans, systems and actions to prevent recurrence

Education / Certifications:

In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that the ideal candidate will have:

  • Grade 12
  • Relevant Trade – Dairy processing (Mechanical/electrical with extensive mechanical experience OR NQF level 6 engineering diploma)
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in dairy manufacturing (minimum 5 years post apprenticeship experience in relevant trade (Dairy processing and Powder processing) in manufacturing environment as an artisan)
  • Computer Literacy – experience in manufacturing systems such as SAP would be advantageous
  • The ability to do maintenance planning, organize and drive for results while constantly measuring the quality, cost and delivery.
