Colgate-Palmolive is currently recruiting for a Planner Analyst, for Boksburg and Canelands plants. The Planner Analyst will be responsible to supporting the Production Planner Activities Such as: the analytics in place around the Planning Process to effectively managing the production planning and scheduling functions to ensure customer service and assure the right coverage of the demand, while developing collaborative partnerships with Production Planner, CP colleagues and Suppliers. The primary accountabilities of the role include Customer Service, Quality, a Stable Production Schedule, Supply Chain Improvement Initiatives, Right Cycle Count and Inventory Management.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Planner Analyst plays an integral role by: Delivering the agreed business results while maintaining positive employee engagement with the cross functional areas and supplier relationships.

Managing inbound logistics and services: Managing the inbound supply chain logistics- from the acquisition of raw and packaging materials to production of finished goods

  • Involves suppliers on the front end of the innovation cycle
  • Establishes Supply Chain processes for optimum material replenishment and inventory levels [e.g., Supplier Manager Inventory (SMI), Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)]
  • Understands pull systems relating to material and service replenishment
  • Knows how product, material, and SMI modules function in SAP
  • Implements standardization and simplification initiatives for materials, services, and finished goods
  • Develops mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers in terms of Logistics and Planning Processes. Not Procurement Topics and Negotiations
  • Understands supplier capabilities to meet cost and Quality targets

Planning and Scheduling:

  • Identifies and communicates equipment capabilities and constraints as it relates to production planning and scheduling and manage it
  • Develop realistic and stable production plan and schedule, which will achieve service targets.
  • Collaborate with demand planning manager to ensure alignment of production plan and business demand forecast
  • Engage with relevant role-players to ensure operational requirements are considered in demand requirements


Co-ordinating Production:

  • Knows the handling and storage requirements of raw materials
  • Ensures that suppliers are capable of meeting production schedules, customer demands, and Quality and Microbiology targets
  • Communicates the need for and impact of Quality, Microbiology, and EOHS standards while ensuring implementation with suppliers
  • Promotes safety awareness and models safe behaviour within contract and supplier facilities
  • Provides input for contingency plans and strategies for any business interruption


Customer Service and Logistics:

  • Achieves customer-focused Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for logistics
  • Understands Supply Chain constraints such as product release, manufacturing, distribution, and customer requirements
  • Develops sourcing solutions using analytical, financial, and negotiation skills


Factory Performance and Reliability:

  • Exploits data and information to identify and measure potential improvements
  • Participates and leads Factory performance and Reliability – Production Planning standard as Continuous Improvement to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement
  • Facilitates sharing of ideas, knowledge, and best practices with suppliers and internal partners to improve processes and solve problems


Qualifications & Experience required

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Industrial Engineering or Business Sciences or Finance (or equivalent local university degree)
  • At least 1 year experience with understanding of Supply Chain processes
  • A good understanding of planning processes, supply chain, analytics scope, and scheduling and logistics functions
  • A good understanding of Production processes and technologies
  • Computer literacy with sound knowledge of MS Excel and Office suite
  • Sound presentation and communication skills
  • Thorough administrative skills, to ensure proper paper trails and governance. Negotiation and consultation
  • Knowledge in SAP, ERP and MRP will be advantageous.
