Position: Pharmacy Technologist

Reporting to: CDU Operations Supervisor

Desirable Required Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in Pharmacy Technology

• 2-5 years’ experience working in the public health sector, preferable within HIV/AIDS field

• Experience in supply chain management of health commodities

• Current registration with Lesotho Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Council (LMDPC)

• Client orientated, service delivery focused and team player

• Computer Literate

• Good understanding of Medicines and related substances legislation

• KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Capture of patient scripts as per volume assignment

• Verification and validation of captured scripts by other staff (not own) under the pharmacist supervision

• Performing the required record keeping and documentation requirements

• Operate within scope of practice under the supervision of a pharmacist

• Ensure that patient ready packs dispensed are according to scope of practice.

• Report potential medication/therapy errors to the Pharmacist, including any CDU process flow errors

• In-between CDU batch dispensing cycles, monitor patient compliance/adherence to medication through systems reports and liaising with facilities

• Communicate with the CDU pharmacist regarding stock issues, in advance of out-of-stock scenarios

• Support the team in ensuring that stock reaches the CDU in the right quantities, through on-time ordering practices

• Handle all queries regarding stock.

• Support drug requisition and stock reporting update process as per LESOPs requirements

• Stock receipt under supervision of the Pharmacist

• Attend courses and training workshops organised by RTC training department and approved by Right e-Pharmacy for continued professional development.

• Provide training to other Health Professionals on pharmacy related issues, when required by the CDU Operations Supervisor

• Train and tutor other pharmacy staff, when required by the CDU Operations Supervisor

• Define and recommend training requirements in line with the needs of the CDU operations

• Develop and Implement SOPs’ on CDU operations

• Ensure adherence to guidelines and with SOP’s
