Overview:

Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho.The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free paediatric and family-centered HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.

BCMCFL is looking for highly qualified candidates to fill in the following positions on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis.

Position: Pharmacy Technician *1 Based at Mohale’s Hoek SCOE

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Dispense medicines and counsel patients about the use of medicines.
  • Always keep inventory of dispensed and stored medicines up to date.
  • Participate in the purchase, receipt, checking, shelving, and recording of medicine stocks.
  • Be actively involved in adherence and adverse effects counselling of all patients with liquid medicine and pill counts.
  • Review order requisitions and place orders timely.
  • Assess availability of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Assess quality of stored medicines.
  • Supervise Storekeeper and or Pharmacy Assistant and provide mentorship on keeping and handling of pharmaceuticals.
  • Provide medication counselling to patients, parents, and caregivers.
  • Provide clinical staff with drugs information.
  • Actively evaluate for and prevent medication errors, including communication with prescribers.
  • Perform any other duties that are assigned from time-to-time by the administration.

Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies

  • Diploma in Pharmacy Technology
  • Current registration with Lesotho Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Council as Pharmacy Technician
