Overview:
The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI) and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free paediatric and family-centred HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment, and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.
Lesotho/Local Entities Advancing and Driving Health Responses (LEADR) is a multi-year project, funded by USG Department of State, intended to provide effective decentralized, differentiated, and integrated facility and community services to maximize equitable access to comprehensive HIV and TB interventions through a primary health care approach to ensure that clients have access to holistic services. Its goal is to support the Government of Lesotho to deliver high-quality integrated prevention, care and treatment services that will sustain the reduction in HIVand transmission, morbidity, and mortality in Lesotho through the implementation of a comprehensive, person-centered approach. The project is implemented in Butha Buthe and Mokhotlong districts and at the BCMCFL Maseru Centre of Excellence (COE) and Mohale’s Hoek Satellite Center of Excellence (SCOE).
BCMCFL is looking for qualified candidates to fill in the following positions available on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis.
Pharmacy Technician (x1)
Location: Mokhotlong District
Contract Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term
Position Overview:
The Pharmacy Technician will support pharmacy activities, supply chain management and commodity reliability at hospitals and health facilities through mentoring of HCWs in collaboration with the district pharmacist and district logistics coordinator. Based mainly at high-volume facilities in Mokhotlong and roving to other facilities, especially hard-to-reach sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare medicines for dispensing, including pre-packing
- Check validity and accuracy of prescriptions
- Dispense medications and provide counselling to patients/caregivers
- Order, receive, stock and maintain inventory of drugs to prevent stock-outs
- Review medication adherence
- Complete MoH registers and reports
- Ensure secure and appropriate storage of medicines
- Prepare consumption data and orders for medication and supplies
- Conduct regular stock counts
- Participate in educational activities to improve patient care
- Provide mentorship on supply chain management and DHIS2 informed push
- Perform any other duties assigned
Educational Qualifications, Experience and Key Competencies:
- Diploma in Pharmacy Technology
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience as Pharmacy Technician in HIV/TB clinical setting
- Current valid registration with Lesotho Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Council
