Interactive Research and Development South Africa (IRD SA NPC) is a South African Section 21 not-for-profit entity and an affiliate of Interactive Research and Development Global (IRD Global), and has fully operational offices in Johannesburg (Gauteng), Pretoria (Tshwane) and in Durban (KwaZulu-Natal).

Interactive Research and Development South Africa (IRD SA NPC) seeks to appoint Pharmacist: Pharmacovigilance to be based in Johannesburg.

Employment Type: Fixed term contract

Reports to: Technical Team Lead

Purpose of the position:
Coordinate Pharmacovigilance clusters in the province.
Facilitate and coordinate training in Pharmacovigilance in the provinces.
Establish Pharmacovigilance centers and committees in the province
Communicate Pharmacovigilance matters with the NPC.

Responsibilities(included but not limited to):

Establish and Coordinate Pharmacovigilance (Phv) Clusters in the province: 10%
Ensure that monthly meeting take place and give feedback to National Pharmacovigilance Centre (NPC) and Provincial DOH.
Arrange for revisit to PhV clusters to monitor the PhV process and progress.
Monitor and attend to PhV clusters not reporting.
Maintain existing clusters and establish new clusters.
Represent Pharmacovigilance at the provincial Pharmaceutical Therapy Committee (PTC).
Ensure feedback from national to province.
Facilitate and Coordinate training in Pharmacovigilance in the province: 30%
Ensure that hospitals/clinics have adequate supply of ADR forms.
Communicate with health care professionals to ensure that ADR forms are properly completed.
Prepare orientation of new committee members.
Advise on the collection and submission of ADR reports from all the facilities.
Perform Pharmacovigilance activities on targeted data collection: 30%
Provide mentorship visits on ADR reports.
Provide support to sites where reporting is challenged.
Retrieve reports and perform retrospective data collection.
Ensure verification of data captured at NPC: 20%
Assist in managing shortfalls in data of ADR forms and provide technical guidance.
Compare raw data against info captured on database periodically.
Communicate Pharmacovigilance matters with the NPC: 10%
Communicate between Clusters NPC and Provincial DOH.
Ensure Pharmacovigilance reporting and feedback to and from cluster and NPC.
Ensure feedback from National to Province
Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy
Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council
Added advantage would be any of the following qualifications:
Desirable:
Knowledge and experience of the application of the Medicines and Related Substances
Act, 1965 (Act 101 of 1995) and quality, safety and efficacy of medicines and     Pharmacovigilance
Sound clinical knowledge in HIV and TB as well as the medication to treat the conditions.
Experience & skills:

Good communication skills (written and verbal)
Good planning and organisation skills.
Good report writing and presentation skills.
Computer literacy
Good interpersonal relations.
Ability to work in a team
Innovative thinking, initiative and leadership qualities.
Ability to work with dedication and accuracy
Computer literacy is essential (e.g: Ms office, Spreadsheets and experience in Using e-mail)
Must be willing to travel and work irregular hours.
A valid driver’s licence
