m2m is looking for 16 Peer Mentors to be based in Mokhotlong, Berea, Maseru, Leribe, and Mohale’s Hoek Districts.
Job Summary
m2m is recruiting 16 Peer Mentors to lead community-based, peer-driven HIV prevention and care. Aligned with national HIV/ART guidelines and WHO’s CAB-LA recommendations, Peer Mentors will support integrated prevention services, including HIV testing, PrEP eligibility assessments, and CAB-LA continuation or re-initiation for clients previously enrolled in CAB-LA PrEP.
Peer Mentors will ensure accurate documentation using MOH registers and referral tools, supporting continuity of care across all service points.
Duties and Responsibilities
Routine Service Delivery
- Go door-to-door and visit known places in the community to find former CAB-LA clients, especially those who have stopped coming or are at risk of dropping out
- Use local youth spaces (Youth Corners, adolescent and male) and Men-Friendly Services to reconnect with young people who may still need CAB-LA support
- Provide psychosocial support to clients who switch from CAB-LA to oral PrEP
- Remind clients about their appointments using CHARM or other mobile tools
- Watch for signs that clients may stop taking their medicine and alert nurses
- Provide psychosocial support (PSS) through mobile tools to help clients stay motivated
- Offer HIV testing to former CAB-LA clients to check eligibility for restarting CAB-LA
- Explain CAB-LA benefits, side effects, and next steps clearly to eligible clients
- Refer clients to m2m or MoH nurses for health checks and restarting CAB-LA, ensuring referrals are recorded and followed up
- Follow up with clients after restarting CAB-LA to check for side effects and provide support
- Use CHARM or other tools to remind clients about their next dose and follow up if missed
- Offer supportive counselling to clients testing HIV-positive, and refer for ART initiation
Data Reporting
- Document appropriately using MOH HTS tools at community level
- Collect and compile monthly reports for submission to the professional nurse and M&EO
- Collaborate with facility staff for supply chain management processes
- Ensure all client records at community level are accurately filled for client management and support
Qualifications and Experience
- COSC
- At least 2 years’ prior work experience in HIV/TB programming (experience in HIV prevention is an advantage)
- Prior experience in the implementation of the Mentor Mother Model is an added advantage
- Accredited certificate in HTS (HIV Testing and Counselling)
