Payments Verification Officer
Location: Head Office (Maseru)
Reports to: Payments Verification Manager
Purpose of the Job:
To provide a specialist advisory, consultation and operational service to stakeholders on, and facilitate the approval of, complex exchange control applications that meet the rules, regulations and directives as set by the Central Bank of Lesotho (CBL) to ensure operational and market risks are mitigated.
OUTPUTS REQUIRED
- Provide specialist advisory service to business units and its clients through input, advice and/or specialized solutions on the structuring of complex transactions and/or deals impacted by exchange control rules, regulations and directives
- Understand and meet stakeholder’s exchange control needs and requirements.
- Keep abreast of changes to rules, regulations and directives and provide assurance on the integrity of transactions, to maintain Nedbank’s reputation by building and maintaining relationships with the CBL through formal and informal interaction and engagements
- Provide regulatory authority on exchange control transactions to stakeholders to proceed with transactions and/or deals through specialist advice and offering appropriate solutions that are within the rules, regulations and directives set by CBL.
- Ensure the implementation of specialist conditions set by CBL for exchange control approvals that fall outside the rules, by monitoring and reporting on compliance of the business unit to laid down conditions, and taking corrective action, where necessary
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or Commerce, Financial Management, or any relevant/ related field
Experience
- Experience: 8 years’ experience working in Exchange Control and foreign exchange
