The primary role of the team leader packaging is to lead the SBU in the execution of the production plan, executing quality
control and analyses, the carrying out of autonomous maintenance tasks and the resolution of production problems.

Competence Requirements

Post Matric Tertiary Qualification e.g. National Diploma or equivalent in engineering, N6 Engineering studies plus Trade

Familiarity with SAP and Voyager Plant Optimisation (VPO) will be an advantage.

Experience in a packaging process environment, experience at supervisory level will be an added advantage

Be able to work shifts

Be a team-player as well as an effective leader

Attention to detail, Computer literate

Bias for action/comfortable with initiating action

Able to lead meetings and make presentations

Analytical and systematic thinking ability, to enable effective problem solving

Sound communication skills

Managing people ability as well as ability to drive performance

Good interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to facilitate problem solving in a team forum

High level of resilience and ability to operate in a high pressure environment

Experience of managing and running a high speed packaging line would be highly advantageous

Output and Accountabilities

OPTIMISE PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE & PROCESSES:
Co-ordinate and perform scheduled maintenance.

Monitor production processes.

Interpret and implement production plan for shift.

Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

Build and foster relationships with customers and preferred suppliers.

PERFORM ADMINISTRATION:
Ensure application of admin systems and procedures.

Administer conditions of employment for team members.

Contribute to self and team development.

Prepare and control budgets.

FACILITATE TEAM PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING:
Apply problem solving and decision making techniques and principles.

Facilitate team problem solving.

MANAGE HUMAN RESOURCES:
Develop employees.

Ensure a healthy industrial relations climate.

Manage and apply personnel practices.

OPTIMISE TEAM PERFORMANCE:
Facilitate effective team dynamics.

Implement performance management.

Communicate effectively in the workplace.
