Who may enter
The competition is open to anyone aged 18 or over. International entries are welcome.
Short description
The contest is organized by the Oxford Brookes Poetry Centre.
There are two categories:
• English as an Additional Language (EAL) – open to all poets aged 18 and over who write in English as an Additional Language.
• Open category – open to all poets aged 18 years and over.
Poems must be written primarily in English, though a few words or phrases in another language or languages can be included.
Entries can be on any subject.
Entries must not have been published in print, on websites, public areas of social networking sites, broadcast, have featured among the winners of another competition or be submitted elsewhere for consideration.
This year’s judge is Caroline Bird.
Entry fees
The first three poems submitted cost £5 per poem. Subsequent entries in the same submission cost £4 per poem up to a maximum of ten poems.
Prizes
The winner of the Open category will receive a prize of £1,000. The runner-up (second-placed poem) will receive a prize of £200.
The winner of the EAL category will receive a prize of £1,000. The runner-up will receive a prize of £200.
