What will you do?

In this position you will join our Offshoring Infrastructure business, where you will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of infrastructure projects – from rural access roads to complex freeways, toll roads, freight and passenger rail, system interchanges and water security.

We know the work we do is vital in assisting our world’s economic development and, it’s the technical expertise and the depth of knowledge of our people that really sets us apart. Here are the key things you will do to ‘bring ideas to life’.

  • Be part of a key group of design engineers and technologists which will be focused on the delivery of projects in a digitally innovative environment, working in the South African Offshore Centre, undertaking project work for projects in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
  • Use your 7 to 10 years’ experience of designing and draughting of Overhead Wiring (Electrical) infrastructure designs, by means of your intermediate to advanced software packages knowledge and skills in Bentley MicroStation, Autocad, Bentley ProjectWise and / or Revit.
  • Design and Draughting of Overhead Wiring infrastructure including:
  • Track electrification layouts
  • Mast structures, foundations, components and line fittings
  • Earthing and return bonding layouts
  • Extent of electrification and electrical switching diagrams.
  • OHTE arrangements e.g. cantilevers, return conductor suspension, overlaps, weight tension devices, make-offs, mid-point anchors, switch sectioning and feeding arrangements.
  • As-built drawings
  • Interface with other disciplines such as Track and Signalling to provide integrated design packages and drawings
  • Review quality of work produced by junior designers and drafters under your management, prior to issuing deliverables to our team in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

What can you bring to the team?

Firstly, you will share our genuine passion for re-imaging engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. You will also need a relevant technical qualification which would be preferable.

  • B.Tech or Diploma in Electrical Engineering would be advantageous.
  • National Draughting qualification
  • 7 to 10 years’ experience of designing and draughting of Overhead Wiring (Electrical) infrastructure designs (intermediate to advance)
