Overview:

KARABO EA BOPHELO at Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho. The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free pediatric and family-centred HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment, and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions. Karabo Ea Bophelo (KB) is a five-year USAID-funded activity to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Lesotho.

BCMCFL is looking for highly qualified local candidates to fill in the following positions available under Karabo Ea Bophelo Project on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

Position Overview

The OVC-Technical Manager will provide technical and strategic leadership of all OVC technical and programmatic aspects of the project. S/he reports to the Technical Lead-OVC and closely collaborates with other technical staff to ensure that program objectives are met and all activities are responsive to the needs of the host country and intended beneficiaries.

Key Performance Areas:

Key performance areas include, but are not limited to the following:

  • The OVC Technical Manager, with extensive expertise in OVC programming, HIV and PEPFAR programs, will serve as the primary contact for the OVC program and ensure implementation of the program in line with PEPFAR priorities and in coordination with technical teams, MEAL, and partners.
  • Ensure project objectives and results are accomplished and meet expected technical quality standards and that research and learning continue to inform project implementation.
  • Assist the Technical Lead-OVC in the successful programmatic and technical implementation of the project including timely completion of high-quality work plans, accurate reports, and other critical deliverables.
  • Lead the technical design and implementation of OVC program approaches and package of services in line with project strategies, donor priorities and international standards.
  • Contribute to technical capacity building and innovation in OVC and HIV programs targeting Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW).
  • Identify existing community-based support services for OVC and facilitate the development of effective referral system to ensure continuum of care.

Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies

  • Bachelors’ degree in Public Health, Social Work, Community Development, or other field of study related to the program scope of work required and at least seven (7) years of experience with community-based programs focused on the needs of children, adolescents, and underserved populations.
  • Experience implementing USAID and/or PEPFAR-funded OVC, DREAMS, health programs
