Habitat for Humanity Area Office for Europe, Middle East and Africa with location in Pretoria is looking for a Contractor to support our regional IT team with tasks requiring local presence. The EMEA region consists of three offices based in Pretoria, Bratislava, and Nairobi while the cores IT services are provided by the global IT team based in the US and through the global helpdesk. The contractor will work closely with the Regional and Global teams to provide hands-on localised support to our staff based in Pretoria.

Contractor’s Responsibilities/Duties:

· Servers, Routers / Switch / Cabling, UPS, Wireless: maintenance, reporting of faults, and installation of new equipment as and when required (server equipment is managed remotely by the global IT team based in the US and local infrastructure by an external supplier)

· Hardware malfunction: diagnosis and decision on appropriate actions (warranty report, disposal, etc.)

· Conference room support: setup of new equipment, troubleshooting, periodic testing, responding to failure reports

· General IT support: second tier support when helpdesk or Bratislava based IT are unable to support remotely

There may be additional new projects/tasks as agreed by both parties. The overall management of the consultant and approving of new projects lies with the Financial Reporting and Information Systems Manager.

Main deliverables:

· Timely (within 1 working day) response to reported issues

· Effective resolution of reported IT problems and/or effective reporting of problem which require a global/regional response

· Effective communication regarding the tasks performed with the regional and global IT staff

· Any updates or changes are implemented efficiently and effectively

Timeline/level of effort:

  • Starting date: 01 June 2019
  • Approximately 10 hrs per month

Contractual arrangements:

· Professional Service Agreement for a period of 1 year with a possibility of termination/renewal at 1 months’ notice

Competencies

  • Strong Server O/S System Administration, Network Engineering, and Desktop technology
  • Teamwork: ability to work within diverse teams with technical and non-technical users
  • Customer focus: ability to focus on realistic solutions and manage expectations of non-technical users
  • Project management: proven ability to deliver IT projects from beginning to end
  • Service delivery: ability to provide ad-hoc support, understanding of deadlines and ability to identify and prioritize urgent tasks

Required skills and Qualifications

  1. Competent supporting Windows Server O/S and WAN/LAN networks with Cisco and Fortinet hardware (Routers and Firewalls).
  2. Knowledge of Windows networks, Active Directory and TCP/IP
  3. Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and software, including but not limited to Office 365 and SharePoint
  4. In-depth technical knowledge of PC hardware
  5. Experience with first-level or second-level user IT support
  6. Preferred – two years previous experience in LAN administration
  7. MCSE and CNA certifications desired
  8. Proficiency in English required

Financial arrangements:

Payment will be disbursed upon submission of a quarterly report of deliverables and certification by the Financial Reporting and Information Systems Manager that the services have been satisfactorily performed and were in line with the plan agreed.
