Ngodwana Mill
OUTSIDE OPERATOR – BLEACH (Grade 11)
Sappi Ngodwana Mill requires an Outside Operator to ensure the bleach plant has a constant and stable supply of sodium bisulphite at the required quality.
This role reports into the Production Superintendent
The main responsibilities of this job are:
- Check sodium bisulphite stock levels on the slab
- Offload sodium bisulphite bags during deliveries.
- Mix bisulphite and supplies to the bisulphite storage tank.
- Take bisulphite samples to the lab for concentration verification for every batch produced
- Conduct plant inspections and report all problems to the shift manager
- Create SAP notifications for all plant defects.
- Liaise with maintenance team, when a breakdown occurs or when engineering work is required
- Perform plant isolations as and when required
- Issue work permits for work to be carried out in the plant
- Ensure good housekeeping is maintained according to the 5S standard.
- Report spills and details of the spill and its causes to the shift manager.
- Ensure all vehicle and crane check lists are completed. Reports all faults to the shift manager.
- Update overall equipment efficiency(OEE)
- Identification; communication and mitigation of risk
The ideal candidate should have:
- Matric with Maths and Psychical Science/N3 Pulp and Paper
- S4 Chemical Engineering/ Pulp and Paper, relevant Diploma will be advantageous
- 2 years’ experience in an industrial environment
